War, the first Horseman of the Apocalypse, is wrongly accused of violating sacred law by prematurely provoking the ultimate war between Heaven, Hell, and the Realm of Man. In the carnage that followed, the demonic forces defeated the Angels and settled on Earth, the kingdom of Men, whom they eradicated, not being ready for war. Brought before the Ardent Council, War is condemned for his crimes and his powers are stripped from him. Disgraced and alone in the face of his death, War is given the opportunity to return to Earth to seek the truth and punish those responsible.
At the dawn of the world, angels were given paradise, demons were given a dark empire, and men were given a whole world. The Ardent Council, an entity charged by the Creator with preserving the very essence of existence, decreed that the Universe needed order and harmony. But the Balance has been broken, the Red Rider War is accused of having unleashed the Apocalypse too soon, leading to the destruction of Earth before its time. He is therefore being judged at the Ardent Council, which is seeking his future sentence. To save his brother's honor and proclaim his innocence, the second Horseman, Mort, set out.
With War chained, Death missing, and Strife nowhere to be found, Fury, the Horsewoman of Rage, is tasked by the Ardent Council with the task of preserving the balance of the universe; she must find and capture the Seven Deadly Sins who are making an already catastrophic apocalypse on Earth worse. She will be accompanied in her quest by a lookout, a ghostly entity, sent from the Ardent council. This Chaos falling on the Earth would, according to the words of the Council, come from the hand of War, having triggered the apocalypse, she will then also have to repair the exactions of her brother against the balance.
After the Four Horsemen attacked and decimated the Nephilim, a creature resulting from the mixture of the essence of a demon and that of an angel, on Eden, then coveted by the latter for the benefit of the new race which was to occupy it. The riders are now summoned by the Ardent Council. The Council suspects that the demon king Lucifer is planning something with Samael that could upset the balance and call into question the very existence of creation, they order War and Strife to investigate so that, if a plot is indeed being prepared, they should intervene to remedy it.
