Synopsis
War, the first Horseman of the Apocalypse, is wrongly accused of violating sacred law by prematurely provoking the ultimate war between Heaven, Hell, and the Realm of Man. In the carnage that followed, the demonic forces defeated the Angels and settled on Earth, the kingdom of Men, whom they eradicated, not being ready for war.
Brought before the Ardent Council, War is condemned for his crimes and his powers are stripped from him. Disgraced and alone in the face of his death, War is given the opportunity to return to Earth to seek the truth and punish those responsible.
The Game
Darksiders is an action/adventure video game, developed by Vigil Games, published by THQ and available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in 2010. The game is inspired by the Apocalypse, the player embodying one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, stuck on an Earth ravaged by the end of the world. The title mixes imposing combat phases with exploration sequences. The game was ported, in an improved version entitled Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016, then to Wii U in 2017.
