After the commercial success of the first game (released January 5, 2010 on: xbox 360, playstation 3 and Pc), Vigil Games and Gunfire Games, creators of the license, decided to release a second game, which will subsequently include 3 DLCs, while their publisher: "THQ" is on the verge of bankruptcy; The company will be bought by Nordic Games, becoming: "THQ Nordic" on June 12, 2014. This game will include 3 DLCs afterwards.

After the release of the first game, the license saw two graphic novels: "Darksiders Graphic Adventure" and "Darksiders 2: Death's Door" but also a novel as well as artbooks for each of the 4 games after their released, for now...

A resurgentlicense

We then thought the license was dead, while we saw the release of two remasters for the two first games: Darksiders Warmastered Edition and Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition respectively released on November 22, 2016 and October 27, 2015.

However, a third game was released: Darksiders 3, featuring the third horsewoman, released on November 27, 2018; a game which will also see the release of 2 dlc: “Keepers of the Void” and “The Crucible”.

Although this game was disappointing with its mixed and clumsy story as well as its gameplay leaving something to be desired, and being, moreover, far from that of its predecessors qualitatively, it was nevertheless refreshing, the darksiders games having until then been inspired by different gameplay (the second being RPG focused and this third opus focused on Souls-like) and allowed the release of a fourth opus which exceeded expected sales.
